Why an RCD?
Check that your RCD has a rated residual operating current (sometimes called tripping current) not exceeding 30 mA and if you have not got socket outlets with RCD protection, a permanent and safe solution is to get Electrotest Services to provide RCD protection for all socket outlets used for outdoor equipment. RCD protection is a requirement of the national electrical safety standard, BS7671.
